What we are looking for

To be the subject matter expert in designated area on PSC matters. To lead, initiate and help both the Global TPG & FSD in lowering detention rates of Lloyds Register Classed vessels within dedicated Area. To provide background details on circumstances on any detained Lloyds Register vessel. To actively promote Lloyds Register as a Premier Class Society that promotes Safety & Quality within its Fleet.

The Role 

  • Proactive Engagement with PSC Authorities
  • To be able to work with and form professional relationships with the PSC authorities to provide: Local point of contact for the PSC Officers to assist in interpretation and matters of conflict require to be resolved
  • Provide support to local PSC Officers through regular training and seminar
  • Provide pre-emptive support in areas of rule interpretation and gaps in the local PSC regime
  • Report to TPG and PSC analysis teams on local PSC campaigns and areas of focus.
  • To support the TPG Manager and team in all areas related to PSC and Investigations.
  • Perform assessments and provide specialist advice for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to client feedback, ensuring timely implementation of actions and solutions that uphold high standards of service delivery.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Give technical guidance to other employees as appropriate and disseminate information to achieve knowledge transfer and application.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
  • Support team members, as appropriate, to build capacity, capability and support networks to effectively leverage knowledge transfer and application.
  • Make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.
  • Prevention better than Cure – This is a “boots on ground position” as opposed another Desk role. We need to be in the Repair Yards / High Risk Ports ( Hamburg, Rotterdam, Amsterdam , Antwerp , Kiel Canal  ( Cuxhaven & Bunsbuttel ) .
  • Job is preventing PSC. Liaison with German / Dutch & Belgium Authorities – Strengthening relationships & ties – being recognised as the “Person to go to in times of contact”
  • Needs to support Surveyors.
  • Needs ability to act fast & attend to vessels with problems – Mobile & Flexible in ability to get there.
  • Whilst acting fast in location, needs to be patient in understanding problem, not acting hastily in his decision making.

 

What you bring

  • A degree or equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution recognised by Lloyd’s Register in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Marine sector, including its operational and regulatory landscape.
  • Experience working in a technical capacity within an IACSmember classification society is preferred.
  • Some professional experience, with a strong foundation in Marine Ship Operations.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, appropriate to the requirements of the role.
  • A high level of professional integrity, analytical rigour and personal initiative.
  • Membership in relevant professional institutions and demonstrated continuous professional development through industry courses, certifications or defence-specific training programmes
